How to set your app's country availability in App Store Connect

Open the app in App Store Connect, click Pricing and Availability in the sidebar, and under App Availability click Set Up Availability, or Manage and then Manage Availability once the app is published. Choose all 175 countries or regions, or tick specific ones, then confirm. The change applies at once, but it can take up to 24 hours before every user sees it.

Before you start

Set availability for a new app

  1. Open the app

    In App Store Connect, go to Apps and select the app.

  2. Open Pricing and Availability

    In the sidebar click Pricing and Availability, scroll to the App Availability section, and click Set Up Availability.

  3. Choose a scope

    Pick All Countries or Regions, Specific Countries or Regions, or Publish as Pre-Order, then click Next.

  4. Tick the countries

    For specific countries, select each storefront you want. The checkbox at the bottom of the list also opts the app into any country Apple adds to the App Store later; All Countries or Regions includes future countries automatically.

  5. Confirm

    Click Confirm. The app becomes available in those countries once its status is Ready for Distribution.

Change the countries of a published app

  1. Open Manage

    In Pricing and Availability, under App Availability, click Manage.

  2. Open Manage Availability

    Under Availability, click Manage Availability.

  3. Select or deselect

    Tick or untick countries or regions. The box at the bottom of the list decides whether the app joins countries Apple adds later.

  4. Confirm

    Click Next, then confirm. The change takes effect immediately and can take up to 24 hours to be visible to all users.

Read the status of each country

The Manage screen lists a status for every one of the 175 storefronts, and the status is what counts, not the checkbox. Green means the app is available there, yellow means it is processing or needs something from you, red means it is not available.

Two of the five storefronts list the app. The report does not say why the other three do not, and no tool outside App Store Connect can: the status column on the developer's Manage screen names the reason for each country, whether an unticked box, a missing filing or a storefront that is closed to the app. What a check adds is the other side of that screen: the view a person in that country gets, today, without an account or a storefront switch.

Common questions

How long does it take for a country change to show on the App Store?

Apple applies the change immediately and says it can take up to 24 hours to be visible to all users. Scheduled changes, including availability and prices, start at a different local time in each country or region, and a scheduled time that has already passed somewhere takes effect there at once. If a country still reads Processing after 24 hours, Apple asks you to contact them.

Can I add or remove a country after my app is published?

Yes. In App Store Connect open the app, click Pricing and Availability, click Manage under App Availability, then Manage Availability, and select or deselect countries or regions. Removing a country takes the app off that storefront, while people who already downloaded it there keep getting updates and can download it again from their purchase history.

Why does App Store Connect say Available but the app is not showing in that country?

Read the status for that country on the Manage screen rather than the checkbox: only Available means live. Allow up to 24 hours after a change or a release. A version set to manual release stays in Pending Developer Release until you release it. And the person looking must have their Apple Account set to that country, because each account sees one storefront.

Will my app appear in new countries Apple adds to the App Store?

Only if you chose All Countries or Regions, or ticked the box at the bottom of the country list when choosing specific countries. That box opts the app into any storefront Apple adds later. Without it, a new country stays unticked until you add it yourself in Manage Availability.

Which countries can an iOS app be released in?

Any of the 175 countries or regions where the App Store is available, and App Store Connect lists them all when you set availability. Pre-orders can be offered in countries where the app is not yet published, and once the app is available for download somewhere, pre-order is no longer possible there.
