App Store ratings and rankings differ by country: how to see them

The App Store keeps a separate overview rating for each of its 175 countries or regions, counted from the customers who bought the app there, and separate top charts per storefront, so the same app can be 4.9 stars in one country and 4.3 in another. Google Play publishes one worldwide rating count. Your device shows only your account's country; a check reads every country at once.

Charts per storefront

Top charts are kept per storefront as well. The checker reads, for the app you name, its position in the category charts of each storefront where the store publishes one, and reports the number of markets in which the app is ranked. It reads one app at a time and never lists a country's whole chart; for that, the store's own Top Charts in that storefront are the place.

Checked on 29 September 2026 with one app in two storefronts: the same listing sat at number 7 in the United States' Top Free Entertainment chart and at number 4 in Germany's, where it was also number 73 among all free apps and number 2 among the top grossing.

What Google Play shows instead

Note: Measured, not a Google rule: Google publishes one rating count for the whole world, and reviews are grouped by language rather than by country. A store page in a given location may show its own star rating; on 29 September 2026 a check of one app across all 176 locations found a star rating on the page in 87 of them. A report therefore shows availability, rating, price and chart position per location and never presents the count as a country's own.

  1. Open the checker on the app

    Paste the app's App Store or Google Play link, or search its name. Any app, not only your own.

  2. Pick the countries and what to collect

    Choose the storefronts, a region or all 175 App Store countries or 176 Google Play locations, and leave ratings and chart rankings switched on. Up to 5 countries per report is free and needs no account.

  3. Read the report

    Each country shows the star rating and rating count the store publishes there, and the app's position in its category charts where the store publishes a chart. On Google Play the count is the worldwide figure.

  4. Compare and keep

    The summary gives the rating spread between the best and worst markets with five or more ratings, the number of markets ranked, and how many different names the listing carries. Export it, or save it with a free account and compare two dates.

A worked example: one app, 175 ratings

A check run on 29 September 2026 for Spotify (App Store id 324684580) across all 175 storefronts, from the demo page, where the nine demo apps are always free to check. Listed in 169 storefronts, average rating 4.8, 154.9 million ratings in all, and a spread of 0.5 stars between the best and the worst market with five or more ratings.

The same app, the same version, rated 4.9 by eleven million people in one storefront and 4.3 by fifty-seven thousand in another. A developer reading only their own country's App Store would see one of these numbers and none of the others.

Common questions

Are App Store ratings the same in every country?

No. Apple keeps a separate overview rating for each country or region of the App Store, counted from the customers who first bought the app there, and the summary rating shown on the product page and in search results is specific to each territory. The same app can be rated 4.9 in one storefront and 4.3 in another on the same day.

How do I see my app's rating in another country's App Store?

In App Store Connect, open Ratings and Reviews and choose the country or region from the menu at the top left; it shows one at a time. On a device you only ever see the storefront of your Apple Account's country. To see every country side by side, for your app or any other, run a check across the storefronts you care about.

Why does my app rank differently in each country?

Because the top charts are kept per storefront, like the ratings, and each storefront's chart reflects what people in that country download and buy. A check reads the app's position in each storefront's category charts where the store publishes one; it reads one app at a time and does not list a country's whole chart.

Does Google Play show a rating per country?

Google publishes one rating count for the whole world, and in Play Console the developer can break the average rating down by country or region, language, device and version. A store page in a given location may show its own star rating, which a check reads where it appears; the count is always the worldwide figure, and reviews are grouped by language rather than by country.

Can I reset my app's rating in one country only?

No. Apple lets a developer reset the overview rating when a new version is released, and the reset applies to all countries and regions at the same time. Written reviews are not affected and continue to display on the product page.
